Best Time To Go

As the Indian Ocean covers such a vast area of the earth and across both hemispheres, the weather and seasons vary significantly throughout. This variation means there’s always a destination available, whether you’re looking for a Summer getaway or some Winter sun.

  • Maldives - December to April for clear sunshine and waters while at sea, and low humidity while on land.
  • Seychelles - April to May and October to November are the transition months, with calm seas and winds perfect for snorkelling and diving.
  • Mauritius - April to June bring the perfect balance of plenty of sun but low humidity for beach days without tropical rain, while September to December sees the peak of the hot season.
  • Reunion - May to October brings cooler air, ideal for exploring the famous volcanic craters inland. The tail end of the season also brings the best window to spot humpback whales in August and September.
  • Madagascar - May to October is the dry season, with clear weather and road access to venture inland and explore the national parks for some lemur spotting.

Where To Sail From

As well as sailings departing from the Seychelles and Maldives directly, departure ports popular for their variety of sailings to the islands and land tour opportunities in their own right include:

  • South Africa (Cape Town and Durban) - typically heading to Madagascar, Mauritius and the Reunion Islands. Ideal for a Safari adventure before or after your sailing.
  • Kenya (Nairobi and Mombasa) - another great option for safari trips either side of your cruise.
  • India - take in the famous sights of the Golden Triangle before sailing to Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Seychelles.
  • Singapore - a great alternative as many of these sailings are a single leg with a different final destination, such as South Africa or India, giving you the chance to bookend your sailing with two completely different land tour experiences.
