Day 1 - Rome

Arrive: Tue 18 May 2027 / Depart: Tue 18 May 2027 at 19:00

Your gateway to the Eternal City, Civitavecchia has served as Rome's seaport since the 13th century. The port has a long and venerable history. The emperor Trajan built a pleasure villa near the modern city, while Bernini and Michelangelo designed the harbor fortifications. Yet the Eternal City eternally beckons. The ancient capital of the Western World and the center of Christianity for nearly 2,000 years, Rome provides an inexhaustible feast. Visit the ruins of the Forum, view the splendors of the Sistine Chapel, or climb the Spanish Steps, once the heart of Rome's Bohemian Quarter. Rome has been a magnet luring the world's greatest artists, architects, and philosophers since the days of the Caesars.

Day 2 - Salerno

Arrive: Wed 19 May 2027 at 08:00 / Depart: Wed 19 May 2027 at 17:00

The coast is one of the pearls of the Mediterranean that you can visit when stopping at Salerno and traveling up towards Naples. The port of Salerno dominates the Amalfi coast, a few miles from the archaeological site of Paestum. Salerno is considered the cradle of the “Norman-Arab-Byzantine” architectural style. For example, don't miss a visit to the glittering Romanesque cathedral with its colourful mosaics. From the city, it’s an easy hop to the beaches of Positano, and you can also visit Sorrento and its rural landscape or Ravello, the muse city, which has inspired artists for thousands of years.

Day 2 - Capri

Arrive: Wed 19 May 2027 at 20:00 / Depart: Wed 19 May 2027 at 21:00

Capri is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful islands in the world…yet at one time it wasn't an island at all. Archaeological excavations made in 1905 during the construction of a hotel discovered animal bones and primitive weapons, evidence that the island was part of the Sorrentine peninsula, to which it is still connected via an underground 5km-long stretch of rock previously above sea-level. Excavations also revealed other fascinating remains in the south of Capri, adding to the island's charm not only as a tourist destination but also as a place of cultural and historical interest.

Day 3 - Sicily

Arrive: Thu 20 May 2027 at 07:00 / Depart: Thu 20 May 2027 at 16:00

The origins of Messina are uncertain, as is the case with other cities on the island of Sicily. The first evidence of the city concerns Zancle, its first name, as baptised by Zanclon, a character of mystery and legend. The historical centre of the city was constructed by the Phoenicians who made Messina a flourishing commercial centre, followed by Greek colonists from Cumae and Euboea.

Day 4 - At Sea

Day 5 - La Seyne-sur-Mer

Day 6 - Savona

Arrive: Sun 23 May 2027 at 08:30 / Depart: Sun 23 May 2027 at 18:00

Above the port of Savona, the Priamar Fortress greets every departure and arrival of the Costa ships sailing in the Mediterranean. Genoa and its aquarium are nearby. The port of Savona, which you can explore during your cruise in Italy, is one of the prettiest of the Italian Riviera. The lovely climate, summers that are never to hot, mild winters and the exceptional beauty of the sea near the town makes Savona an excellent base to set out to explore Liguria. Savona is notable for the Priamar Fortress, which has dominated the town since the 16th century, and also for its historic centre where you can visit Savona Cathedral. A stop in Savona can also be an opportunity to visit the nearby city of Genoa and its narrow, picturesque streets, known as “caruggi”.

Day 7 - Florence/Pisa

Arrive: Mon 24 May 2027 at 08:00 / Depart: Mon 24 May 2027 at 18:00

The seafaring culture of the port of La Spezia dates back to Greek times. The pearl of the Ligurian Levant is a favourite destination for many tourists from all over the world, attracted by the natural and historical beauties that surround it. On a cruise to La Spezia, you can explore the treasures of the coast. Start your visit from the city itself by strolling along the via del Prione in the old district or under the palm trees of the Passeggiata Morin on the promenade, perhaps while sampling a Ligurian focaccia. Looking out to sea you will see the famous Gulf of Poets, written about and praised by the major figures in literature. Costa Cruises will take you to Porto Venere, with its church of San Pietro rising up at the top of the peninsula and the colourful little houses overlooking the gulf, and to Lerici, the beautiful village dominated by the castle di San Giorgio. The port of La Spezia is also the ideal starting point for an shore excursion to the Cinque Terre, now a national park where the marine and typical dry-terraced coastal areas are protected. The villages of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore are also connected by the evocative Sentiero Azzurro (blue trail), along which the Via dell’Amore (way of love) provides perhaps one of the most beautiful maritime views in the world.
