As one of Scotland’s main local cruise terminals, the Port of Leith is easily accessible by train, tram and bus from central Edinburgh. Alternatively, there is ample car parking at the port which can usually be added on or included as part of your package. Blue Car Park, Ocean Drive, has 1,600 car parking spaces available right by the Royal Yacht Britannia.
Due to the port’s size, Cruise Lines leaving Edinburgh-Leith are often smaller, luxury cruise ships such as Regent, Azamara, Oceania and Silversea - which are also typically all-inclusive as standard. However, other cruise lines such as Fred. Olsen and Ambassador do stop by as a port of call, as do larger cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean and Marella on occasion, although usually from further along the waterfront at nearby Newhaven Harbour.
Cruise holidays from Leith typically sail to Northern Europe, such as Norway, Iceland and Faroes, plus shorter cruises to the rest of Scotland and wider the British Isles. Due to cruise ships departing leith being smaller, they can typically dock where other larger vessels can’t, opening up a wider selection of ports of call to visit such as Oban, Kirkwall, Lerwick, Husavik and even docking further up river in central London and Dublin, meaning no long transfers into the city!
